These are very important to Ennobled. We think so: If you want to offer innovative and sustainable products, you have to test and develop them continuously.
To ensure our further development, we cooperate with research institutes, technical colleges and universities that regularly test and research our carbonised and refined woods. This enables us to keep the quality of our products consistently high and to continuously optimise our entire production process and the technical properties of our woods!
By the way: On our website you will also find a scientific portal with studies, research results and doctoral theses on the subject of Yakisugi!
Due to the sustainable burning process with Yakisugi, the special durability and the long CO2 binding, our traditionally carbonised and refined woods definitely have the potential to become an environmentally friendly and sustainable building material that will last for many generations.
As Ennobled GmbH, it is important to us to continuously improve the properties of our woods and to further increase their particular durability and longevity. In times of a throwaway society, we want to offer you a high-quality product that you will continue to enjoy in the future.
The research and development of our products is an important pillar of this: the research results help us to continuously improve the quality and thus also the sustainability factor of the carbonised and refined woods.

The University of Applied Sciences in Kuchl in the province of Salzburg is dedicated to the topics of wood technology and timber construction in various courses of study. In cooperation with Ennobled, the students and lecturers at the UAS have already carried out numerous weathering, cut edge and outdoor tests on the carbonized and refined woods.
The weathering tests were particularly interesting: various types of wood in carbonized, finished and untreated versions were placed in the weathering stand at the FH and exposed to simulated “natural” environmental influences – e.g. water or UV light – for several thousand hours.
These tests showed that some products withstood the effects of weathering better than others. Woods that did not meet the quality requirements were removed from the range. At the same time, these research results will help us in future to provide you, the customer, with even better advice when choosing the right product – depending on the area of application.
We are currently working on the development of our science portal and on further research projects in collaboration with universities of applied sciences and universities in the DACH region. We will publish the research results here on our website as soon as possible. You can look forward to exciting contributions on the topics of research, development and innovation!
