Quality criterion no. 2: We use wood with a special cut
Woods that are less suitable for processing with our traditional deep-charring process are sorted out at the sawmill.
For example, heartwood planks that are carbonized and then brushed and finished produce an inconsistent, unclean result. For this reason, we prefer wood with a special tangential cut for this process – the so-called flake cut – where the flake* is optimally accentuated after brushing.
The rift cut, for example, is very common with other manufacturers. Although this ensures good stability and reduces cracking, it produces a less attractive overall appearance with carbonized and subsequently finished woods. As the dimensional stability of our woods is improved by traditional deep charring anyway, we prefer the flake cut. This ensures that a unique look with a special surface structure, coloring and texture is created when finishing our woods.
